CAT Technology are Nothing But a SPAM Shop

Despite Bill Gates’ Davos promise that SPAM would largely be eliminated by 2006, it remains a headache.  Improved spam filters catch most of it, but some stuff still slips through.  And it must work, as the level of SPAM keeps increasing.

A few months ago, I began to get SPAM from some lowlife at a company called CAT Technology, Inc., which claim to provide offshore development services in India.  I tried all the usual methods to get myself removed from the list, leveraging Outlook’s Junk email approaches as well as sending the message to the blacklist manager for our corporate SPAM filters.  No luck.  The SPAM kept coming.  I even tried to have myself removed using the “remove” feature at the bottom of their email (though I know this often is counterproductive).  Again, no luck.  No matter what I did, I continued to get SPAM from CAT Technology, Inc.  The messages all came from a spammer using the name Bharath Kumar and the email address [email protected].

Finally, something must have worked slightly, as for a two-week period I did not see any email from my friend Bharath.  But, before I could breathe a sigh of relief, yesterday I received a new email from a new “friend” named Farhan Afridi, using the email address [email protected].

There's not a lot of information about the Company, either on the website or in various public records sources, but they seem to have a US subsidiary called "CAT Technology Inc." based in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; Gale Research lists the President of that division as Dinesh Jaiswal.

So, why am I writing this blog post?  Surely, SPAM has little relevance to the content and technology topics usually covered by this blog.  That’s true.  But I am writing this purely in hopes that anyone ever considering doing business with CAT Technology (or CAT Technologies Ltd as they also list themselves) will find this blog post when they Google the company and learn that CAT Technology is nothing more than a bunch of spammers with fraudulent business practices.

HERE’S WHERE YOU CAN HELP
If you have a blog or website, take a moment and link to this post.  For your link, use the words CAT Technologies.  This will help this post’s SEO and help ensure that anyone who ever may Google CAT Technologies will see that they are just a bunch of spammers.  Sure, they could change their name or take another approach, but perhaps it will cause them some grief in the meantime.

If you don’t have a blog, take a moment to Digg this post (you can use the link at the bottom) to help spread the word out.

This won’t solve the SPAM problem (hey, I have fewer resources at my disposal than Gates does) but it will at least allow you to feel like you’re doing something useful against nasty SPAM companies like CAT Technologies.

Thanks for your help!

BTW – are there other spammers whom you can’t get rid of.  Just add their names in the comments section to this post and it will help inform others of their sleazy business practices.

Update: Looks like I'm not the first one to get annoyed at CAT Technologies SPAM machine.
