Thoughts on MicroHoo

I've blogged in the past about how this deal should happen (and personally, have bought on the dips), so I do think that it's a positive step.  Yahoo has had a couple of years to show that they can turn their business around and figure out how to remain relevant in a deportalized world.  To this point, they've failed.

While the integration of two very different cultures is likely to create hiccups along the way, the ultimate combined Microsoft-Yahoo should be at least a reasonable competitor to Google, and that's a good thing for all of us.

There's a ton of coverage out there already, so I don't have a lot to add.

Research Recap has a great roundup of the response from both the blog world and the Street.
