SIIA Search Brown Bag
Earlier today was the SIIA Brown Bag Publishers Get ARMed! Attract, Retain and Monetize through Search.
The focus of the panel was discussing ways to leverage search technologies to generate revenue. Leslie Kues, of FAST, was the moderator and did a great job keeping the panel focused. Panelists included EveryZing chief revenue officer Steve Baker, John Blossom of Shore Communications, Muse Global chair Kate Noerr and Barbara Kroll, Director, Corporate Strategy at Wolters Kluwer.
Here are a few clips from the panel. Scribe Studios will post full video (of much higher quality) to the SIIA website in a week or so.
Note: for some reason, Internet Explorer was freezing due to the embedded video. So, I've replaced the embedded video with links. Sorry about that.
Here's Steve Baker, describing a project EveryZing had recently completed for Cox Radio, talking about how they created and leveraged a semantic layer across multiple types of content, to enable universal search.
John Blossom describes how he's created Content Nation, leveraging Near-Time technology, and how it leverages tagging and categorization to improve search results across the site and how search results can be saved as an RSS feed. John later discussed the concept of search results as input to analytics as opposed to simply being the end result themselves.
